Eco-friendly
colony approved by PUDA
RACHNA SUBIR SEN
AMRITSAR, JUNE 5
Ravdeep Singh
of the city and his father Dr. Santokh Singh have joined hands to
set up a colony with a difference - Green Acres - on the Airport
Road. Ravdeep Singh has just come back from abroad after completing
his MBA and computer engineering.
The proposed
colony as revealed by Dr. Santokh Singh , "Is the first private
colony approved by PUDA. We are going to make it a dream area, especially
with its environment-friendly features. We have planned lush green
areas in and around the colony. I will leave no stone unturned to
make it a model colony."
Talking about
the present planning of the city, he said: "Our city presently is
developing in a haphazard manner. Laws exist but no one cares for
them. According to recent statistics released by PUDA, 173 unauthorised
colonies have come up in the city. However authorities turn a blind
eye towards them. Further problems like lack of proper streetlights,
water shortage, sewerage problem etc have become regular features
in most parts of the city." He emphasized that the requisite vigilance
of officers was missing in the entire city.
Talking about
his novel venture, Ravdeep Singh revealed: "We have few acres of
land on the Airport Road. Sometime ago we decided to develop the
land into a dream come true colony. For this endeavour we are going
to follow rigid norms. We have planned unique features like a boundary
wall around the colony, a personal sewerage treatment plant, a personal
storm water drainage for maintaining the water table, solar street-lights,
earthquake proof houses, separate submersible pumps, a swimming
pool with its filter plant and a personal incinerator."
He added that
the colony will also have a Country Club, a shopping complex with
shop-cum-flats-cum-offices. Highlighting a unique feature, he said
the houses will have a back boundary wall but no walls in the front.
"A clean pollution free green area for the people of our city is
our aim," he said.
